This Sunday, June 26, 2016, marks the second annual day of games and giveaways for 100 Basketballs.

The afternoon event at Turtle Island Community Centre includes 3 on 3 youth games, live music, crafts, bbq, and wraps up with the giveaway of (currently) more than 300 basketballs and basketball-related prizes to Winnipeg Inner City and North End youth.

Speakers scheduled for the event include Point Douglas MLA Kevin Chief, 100 Basketballs founder Lenard Monkman, and community activist Michael Champagne (North End MC).

Last year 230 basketballs were collected and distributed through the 100 Basketballs initiative, which itself inspired the provincial government to announce the building of a brand new basketball court at Norquay Community Center.

Contact Lenard Monkman at Lenard@AYOmovement.com to make a donation of new or used basketballs, equipment, or other basketball-related prizes.  For more information on #100basketballs visit the event page at https://www.facebook.com/events/285486571787007/.
